Dear Friends,
"I don't know what I would do if the Center weren't there," John G. told us recently. "I'm happy again for the first time in years." Over the course of their 27,000 visits this past year, we hear daily testimony from members about how the Center makes lives better for LGBT older adults. We hear about new friendships forged, life skills gained, isolation overcome - about feeling "alive and connected" again.

One member tells of moving here and having no one to spend the holidays with; he found himself relying on alcohol, drugs and anonymous sex just to feel connected, to ease the loneliness. Now, he reports, "I know I'll get a smile, a hug, and friendship any time I go to the Golden Rainbow."

Providing this nurturing, supportive, and culturally sensitive environment relies on donations, and your help is vitally needed. Please help us maintain a vibrant community center where members and friends can meet for cards or Tai Chi or Yoga, can attend classes and seminars, take bus trips, and get free health screenings, can become volunteers for a wide variety of Center projects - all while gaining that sense of belonging and acceptance so vital to our overall well-being. At our weekly food pantry more than 250 seniors select a bagful of groceries - many of them with tears in their eyes as they thank our volunteers for the food.

With our move into new space at 611 S. Palm Canyon (in the Sun Center near Revivals), we hope to provide even more programs for the LGBT community. We hope to see you here soon, and especially at our Grand Opening early in 2011.

Relocation and renovation expense are one-time costs not covered in our tight budget. Your donation, in whatever amount, is especially important in the weeks ahead. Through your generosity, the Center will always be here to provide the services and programming that our community depends upon.

Thank you and warmest wishes for the holidays.

Randy Lowe
Chairman of the Board

We thank you for your generous, ongoing support of the Golden Rainbow Center - SAGE.

Our Sustenance for Seniors Program
Needs Your Donations
Do you know that our volunteer-staffed Sustenance for Seniors food pantry distributed 140,000 pounds of groceries to older adults in need last year?

Fresh meat, produce, dairy, canned and dried goods are available every Sunday from 8 to 10 am at our new distribution site at 610 S. Belardo Road, Suite 500, Palm Springs click here for map. Free groceries are offered to LGBT Riverside County residents in need who are age 55 or better or disabled. Proof of residency (such as a driver’s license) is needed to register on the first visit. Participants are able to fill one grocery bag each week.
Donations Welcome
More than ever, our food pantry needs your help. Recent weeks have seen a steady rise in participants in our weekly distribution, and our resources are strained. Please donate if you can to help us meet our increased Food Pantry needs.

While we are always grateful for your donated food items (canned and boxed non-perishables only, please), your cash contribution will go even further to feed those in need. We are able to obtain food at pennies on the dollar from the local distribution center. A box of cereal or can of tuna that costs you $2 or more is available to us for less than $1. Please consider making your gift in dollars instead of foodstuffs. We are always pleased to receive donations and the gratitude of our Food Pantry clients is immeasurable. Click on the Donate button below to contribute now.
We encourage you and your friends to bring any unused food items in your pantries at any of the convenient GRC Food Pantry drop-off locations throughout the Greater Palm Springs area. We regret that we are not able to collect donated items at our offices and cannot accept opened items. If you have a large amount of food to donate, please call David Kimball at 1-760-416-7790 to arrange for drop-off. Thanks for your continued support.
